Finding a shoe that will help you crush your ride doesn’t have to be a chore as massive as cleaning cobwebs out of the basement. Shimano’s SH-WR62 Women’s Cycling Shoes trim off all the fat, marketing hype, and exceedingly fancy BS to leave you with a killer shoe that won’t empty your bank account or inhibit your natural awesomeness. The foundation of the SH-WR62 is Shimano’s Dynalast construction, which Shimano claims increases pedaling efficiency by over . 5% per stroke. That doesn’t seem like a lot, but it adds up over 100 miles. The last is also slightly narrower, to better fit women’s feet, and the bottom of the shoe is lined with Shimano’s Dynalast footbed, which is sculpted to produce a pedaling angle that reduces dead spots in your stroke. On the outside, a fiberglass-reinforced nylon sole gives you a thin, stiff, and surprisingly comfortable platform to push on. Its low stack height increases efficiency, and the sole also works to absorb road chatter, so your feet don’t get buzzed to death on rough roads. A carbon-fiber cleat plate accommodates both 2-hole road and 3-hole mountain bike cleats, so you’ll only need one pair of shoes, and the stretchy but strong synthetic leather upper won’t deform, scuff, or rip. Shimano finished the SH-WR26 off with mesh inserts to increase breathability, and two hook-and-loop straps that serve up a foot-hugging fit.

Lots of shoe manufacturers talk about their sweat-wicking liners and moisture management systems, but let’s face it — if you weren’t sweating so much in your shoes, you wouldn’t need the fancy moisture management. Sidi nips the problem in the bud with its Spider SRS Mesh mountain bike shoe. The…
